The Tower Cafe and Tower Ballroom opened in the early 1940's. According to the 1942 Pittsburg city directory the cafe was ran by Lauretta Jones and Mrs. Winnie Felts and the ballroom by Tony Beratone. The ballroom was the host to many local bands in the 1950's and 1960's including Conny and the Bellhops who was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2010. It was also a popular place for wedding receptions, high school reunions and good food. In the 1980's and 1990's it was known as Jack's Steakhouse and Tower Ballroom which was owned by Jack Quier. The steakhouse closed after Jack's death and the building was torn down in 2005. A Casey's gas station now sits on the site.
