The first Christian Science meeting
in Pittsburg was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. F.
A. Gaskell in 1895. An organizational meeting was held
in May 1898 and 7 charter members. A charter was issued
May 9, 1898. The group met in various rented space throughout
town. On September 5, 1907 they purchased a vacant lot
on the corner of Euclid and Walnut. A temporary building
was built on the site that was used until October 25,
1914 when a new building was constructed. A reading room
was built at 117 W. Fifth and also opened in 1914.
