	Joplin and Pittsburg Railway Company "Pittsburg's net work of interurban lines from all adjoining towns and cites, bring thousands of dollars to the merchants annually. Through a refund agreement of the Retail Merchant's Ass'n, citizens from adjoining cities and even from outside the county, find they can shop cheaper in Pittsburg than locally. The schedules are so arranged that even from extreme points a round trip allowing three or more hours stop over can be made in a half day. The Joplin and Pittsburg Electric Railway Company with headquarters in Pittsburg connects with over twenty-five towns and cities. This puts Pittsburg as a trade and distributing center on a par with cities of 75,000 or more population. A feature of the service is the Air Line Division between Pittsburg and Joplin. The distance of 26.7 miles including all stops is made in a trifle over one hour. As a sight seeing trip through the Coal, Lead and Zinc districts, the time consumed is well spent by the visitor as tourist. All divisions give excellent freight as well as passenger service. This branch of service is duly appreciated and heavily patronized by the smaller towns and villages. The cars and equipment are designed for Speed, Safety and Convenience. The extent to which these ideals are achieved is best exempilified by the absence of complaints or adverse criticism of the service given. Pittsburg is the Heart of a Great Coal and Industrial District but its hundreds of miles of railway systems are the arteries which supply and keep turning the wheels of Commerce."
